Since I posted this, I have located these marriages in Vogt-Kethley's Albemarle Marriages 1780-1853.

"Jean
Polly & John Hughes 29 Apr 1805; d-William Jean b-William Jean (Rec. of Marr. Bonds, 1780-1806) min-Martin Dawson Sr, date not cited; included among 1804-1814 loose papers (VSL&A, Albemarle Co. Court Records; Marr. Certificates & Ministers' Returns (1798-1856)

"Sally & Andrew Johnson 14 Nov 1811; min-Martin Dawson Sr (Marr. Reg., 1806-1868, fol. 11) d-William Jean, who gives consent b-Obediah Jean wit-James Johnson & Obediah Jean date of consent and witnesses' signatures are 17 & 18 November Perhaps minister's date is in error or mistranscribed on the register (B/C Papers, 1803-12)"

So Polly Jean married my ancestor John Hughes. William Jean was the father of both Polly and Sally Jean. Brother or father of Polly and Sally Jean was Obediah Jean.

Would like to have more information. Virginia Phillips-Smith
