I'm searching for any information I can find on William Jean(s) b. abt 1774. In the Stokes Co. NC Census in 1810 he and his wife Mary appear to be living very near Martha Jean who is probably Edmond Jean's widow. I believe William is somehow related to Edmond Jean and Edmond's son Wiley Jean/s. William Jeans and Wiley Jeans migrate to Greene Co. TN sometime after 1810. William appears in the 1830 Greene Co. TN census age between 50-60. William Jains (Jeans)who is a collier is among the first accounts in Greene County's Bright Hope Furnace ledger in the mid 1830's. An apparent son Carter Jains also has an account, and both Carter and his wife are both making purchases on William's account as is William's daughter Nancy Jeans Boles, wife of Jacob Boles who is also an iron worker. In the 1850 Census William appears as William James, age 76, born in NC. In 1860 William Jeans appears as 86 born in NC. Any assistance in determining who William's parents are will be greatly appreciated. My direct email is rwallace15@comcast.net Bob Notify Administrator about this message?
