Hello Virginia, Alphonse had at least two sisters. There could be more if they were born after 1882. If you research the Ellis Island records, you would notice a Marie Jacober who arrived in 1902 from Milhausen, the same location as Alphonse. She went to New York City to her Aunt J. Frantz. She died in 1905 due to illuminating gas. The family story is that she was a sleepwalker and turned on the gaslights one night without igniting the gas and was asphyxiated. There are a lot of Marie’s in the Jacober family, but I believe I have her connected correctly as Alphonse’s sister. Her name at birth was Marie Philomene Jacober. The other sister was Marie Josephine Jacober. If she were the one in Oklahoma, you would have to determine whom she married. I do not have that information. The Ellis Island records do not show any other Jacober’s from Milhausen. I do not know if any other siblings emigrated. If others did emigrate, they could have used different ports. If you look at the 1910 US Census for New York City (1/1508/19B), you would find Alphonse boarding with Jacques and Josephine Frentz. Josephine was Marie’s and Alphonse’s aunt (their father’s sister). Josephine is my great-grandmother. Yours, Bill Notify Administrator about this message?
