Hi Melanie .....so nice to hear from you.. Temmer is definitely a German name.My ancestors lived in Hungary since the late 1700's ,mainly in a town called Katymar, but also in Gara ,Csatlja and several other towns which are
in south Hungary just east of the Danube River in an area called "Batschka" They originally came from southwest German provinces and were given grants and incentives to re-settle in Hungary by Josef II, emperor of the Austro-Hungarian empire.
My parents left Hungary during the second world war , because of the Russians, went to Germany for a few years and then came to Canada.
I have a lot of family history already ,but still have a lot of pieces to put in place. There are not many of us and I would gladly exchange information with you or help you in any way I can .Hope to talk to you soon......
Tony Temmer
PS I do not know what Temmer means and you can email me directly at temmer@kwic.com
