Veronika, was you taught Hungarian by your parents?
The Mugush is probably Magos or Magas by English spelling (after pronunce). It is same frequent name in Hungary.
Yes, it is a sorrowful situaton in the families, who left their homeland after the 1956 events, usually illegal way; the parents do not tell about it for the children. Sorry, really sorry....
Since your parents were originally Hungarian citizens, you can get the Hungarian citizenship near automatically. In this way, if you ask it by the consulat, maybe you will know the more exactly data of your parents, also by the immigration office, and by this little trick you need not take siege your mom.
