The Roman Catholic church in Ságvár was built in 1775, so the records "should" be there. But as we know, "should" does not aways translate into reality.

You might check the Reformed records, which began in 1730, just to make sure they don't include the Catholics. I have found one instance where the "Roman Catholic" records contained almost exclusively Lutherans in the early years. It is especially suspicious that the Reformed microfilms date back to 1730, but the Reformed church was not built until 1816. (Perhaps there was an earlier one.)

If that does not help, you might try looking at neighboring villages. (Siofok, perhaps?) Interestingly, the neighboring village of Adánd has almost the same situation as Ságvár. Reformed records begin 1734 and Roman Catholic ones 1805, very nearly the same dates. It does make one wonder why.

Let us know if you find anything. It is an interesting issue.

Janet
