In Hungary, the US, or elsewhere? Likely him in the 1930 US Census: Brooklyn, Kings Co., New York Zsiba, Julius, Boarder, aged 25, married, at age 24, b. Hungary, parents b. same, immigrated 1907, chauffeur, private family Zsiba, Sophie, Boarder, aged 30, married, at age 29, b. Germany, parents b. same, immigrated 1921 (living with the family of David Libman on East 93rd Street) 1920 US Census East 9th Street Manhattan, New York Zsiba, Alexander, Head, aged 48, married, immigrated 1905, b. Budapest (Hungary), parents b. same, tanner Zsiba, Sophy, Wife, aged 40, married, immigrated 1905, b. Budapest, parents b. same Zsiba, Alex, Son, aged 17, immigrated 1909, b. Budapest Zsiba, Julius, Son, aged 16, immigrated 1909, b. Budapest Zsiba, Joseph, Son, aged 13, b. New York Notice that Alex Jr. & Julius came over after the parents. I believe this is the trip in 1909 when mom went home to get them: Aboard the Carpathia arriving in New York on 1 July 1909: Zsiba, Sandorne, aged 30, wife, Magyar, last permanent residence not legible; gives her mother Nagyzsutz Sandorne of Lucshacs as next of kin. Zsiba, Sandor, aged 7(?), child Zsiba, Ilona, aged 9, child Zsiba, Gyula, male, aged 5, child A couple of notes are in order: Sandor = Alex Sandorne = wife of Alex Ilona = Helen Gyula = Julius Mother's name in Hungary is written in traditional Hungarian fashion with last name first, first name last. All are bound for Sophy's husband, Zsiba Sandor, East 9th Street, New York. Birthplace for all given as Lacshaso. Somebody, whose Hungarian, is better than mine, can likely give you the correct spellings for the place names. Alex (Sandor) Sr. first arrived in the US in 1903. In the Hamburg Passenger Lists, he is listed as Zsiba Sandor, aged 33, last of Laczhaza. Notify Administrator about this message?
