Florence Martha Horne (Dahl) was born January 4, 1929 in Lancer, SK. Florence grew up in Beatty. After finishing school she worked a short time at the hardware store in Beatty and then went to work in a ladies wear store in Saskatoon.
She married Robert Horne July 1, 1948. They farmed in the Creek Hill district until 1973. During that time they raised a family of seven. Florence was active in the Beatty United Church where she taught Sunday School. In 1973 the family moved to Okla, SK. where they owned a dairy farm. There Florence was very active with the Hazel Del Gospel Chapel, teaching Sunday School and the youth group. She was devoted to her husband and family. She loved gardening, cooking, baking and oil painting.
Florence is survived by her husband Bob Horne and children Alma (Ron) Arnst, Roberta Horne, Lavern Horne, Lyla (Tom) Williams, Clifford (Cindy) Horne & Jerry (Jessica) Horne; 10 grandchildren & 8 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers Harvey (Marylin) Dahl, Edgar (Monica) Dahl & Orvil (Donna) Dahl; sisters Hazel (George) McKone, Grace (Larry) Henningsen & Freda Lobb; numerous nieces & nephews.
Florence was predeceased by her parents Clifford & Olive Dahl and her son Ken Horne.
Funeral service was held Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Melfort Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Henningsen officiating. Honorary pallbearers were "All Who Shared in Florence’s Life." The eulogy was delivered by Ron Arnst. The organist was Tannis Schmidt. Interment was held Sunday, June 7, 2009 in Preeceville Community Cemetery Preeceville, SK.
