James Horn Independence/Malvern Iowa

Looking for info on my GGrandfather and descendants.
My GGrandfather James Horn b. 1837 in New Deer Aberdeenshire Scotland emigrated to the USA about 1869 to 1871. He left behind an illigitimate son (My Grandfather) who was brought up by his Grandfather.
My information on James is sparse and patchy but first found him in the 1880 US census, living in Independence Jasper County Iowa. He had by then married Maggie a Canadian and had a daughter Nellie b. abt1879.
A family letter written by Nellie in 1926 revealed her married name to be Stroud. She had seven children and that her husband died in 1912. In 1926 she lived in Malvern Mills County Iowa next door to her parents James and Maggie. The letter also stated that Nellie had three brothers. William Horn and Frank Horn who lived close and Harry Horn who lived in South Dakota.
A brother and sister of GGrandfather James also emigrated to the US. Frank Horn b.1843 (no further info) and Margaret Horn b. 1852. She had three children and lived in Omaha Nebraska.
Any information on these families would be most helpful.

Regards........Eddie.
