My grandfather was George Washington Horne, born 1883 in Arkansas. His father was James Lee Horne, born 1848 in SC, (Chester/York?). His father was Harrison Horn/e born C 1810 in NC/SC. His mother was ? Lee. I found James and siblings on 1850 census York, SC in HH of Norfleet H. Horne and Susan Horne. I found James and youngest children on 1860 census Chester SC in HH of Henry and Rebecca Lee.
Norfleet and Susan had disappeared along with 4 oldest girls. I found in York Co newspaper that a N.H. Horn had died in January 1857. No other info. We believe that Harrison had been married twice, first to Eliza Ferguson mother of 3 oldest girls and then to Susan. There is a family on 1840 York census that appears to be this family but HH is H.A. Horne. I keep leading back to Horn/es in Orange Co, NC with my search but can't make a connection.
Are any of these names familiar to you? Thanks.
