John Horn & Hannah Custer unknown relationship to Wm. Corder

I'm very interested in knowing about Wm. Corder who is listed in the household of John Horn and his wife Hannah Custer.

Wm. was listed in 1850 aged 7 and born in OHIO, and listed in 1860 aged 17 born in OHIO.

Why was Wm. Corder living with the HORN family during this time? What is the relationship between the HORN family and CORDER's?

At this point, it's assumed that this William Corder married Eliza Jane DwWitt in St. Joseph County, Indiana 10 Apr 1870 and had the following children before Eliza remarried to Nelson M. Rhoads; Samuel Corder (b. 15.Jan.1872), George Corder (b. 30.May.1875), and Luella Corder (b. 29.Apr.1878).

I am in contact with a descendant of this family line.
