What is the connection between these two families? I find ever so many Comptons with the middle name Horn(e). Elizabeth "Betsy" Horn(e) traveled with the William Compton family from Kentucky to Lawrence County, Arkansas, Missouri Territory, arriving +/- 1810. Along the way she met and married William Robinson who became one of the first Lawrence County Commissioners when it was established in January of 1815. He also served as a Justice of the Peace and Surveyor for the county. In December of 1821, or possibly early in the year 1822, Elizabeth "Betsy" Horn(e), with her eight (8) children and her husband William Robinson, left Lawrence County and traveled the Southwest Trail diagnally across Arkansas to the area of Pecan Point on the Red River. William Robinson left his family there while he made a scouting trip into the interior of Texas looking for a secure place to settle. Determining that Texas was not stable enough for settlement of his family, he returned to the Red River area to await the proper timing. Sometime in 1825, we believe, the Robinson family followed Rev. William Stevenson, known as the "Father of Methodism" into northwest Louisiana. At some point they are at Homer, Louisiana. They remain there until 1829 when they leave for Texas. Elizabeth Horn(e), with her husband William and ten of their eleven children entered Texas in December of 1829. They settled in what became Walker County, Texas, nine (9) miles west southwest of Huntsville, Texas. This was one of the founding families of the Republic of Texas. Searching for information relative to these Horn(e) and Robinson families. Thank you for your time and attention to my request for information.
