I have to say that to me it seems more likely that Philip Hufford's daughter Catherine would have married Peter Harstock than James McDaniel, mainly because of the timing. She would have been something of an old maid by the time of the marriage to James McDaniel. Also, with Peter Hartsock it's more like marrying the boy next door.
You may likely be aware that Barbara (_________) Hufford is buried at the Rocky Hill Church graveyard. Probably Phillip's body was laid down there as well, but no marker has survived.
Have you found Catherine on an 1850 census?
(This leaves me wondering who the Catherine Hufford was who married James McDaniel, but I'll leave that conundrum for another day.)
