Hi Coleen, I have some responses to your posting; 1) I understand that Major Davidson was given this land (Monocacy Manor or a part thereof) for services rendered in the Revolution. Since this was a very large portion of land, it would seem more economical for him to keep a small portion for himself (unless he had land elsewhere) and continue the rents as they were under the British. I did not see any notice that people were evicted from their farms, so feel that this might be the case. Do you have any other information? 2) The information I have on Peter and Anna Margaretha's children is not wehat I would call firm, and there very well could have been children prior to the birth of Peter, Jr., and maybe even children with Peter's first wife. By records that I have, Anna Margaretha Kuntze was born in 1712 and would have been young when Peter, Jr. was born, so I am somewhat skeptical about her having children before that, although it could be possible. Anna Margaretha Schmidt on the other hand could have had children by Peter, Sr. I have often wondered about Conrad, William and others who were older that Peter, Jr., and could have been his half brothers. I put down what I have and it often comes out as fact even though I state that the information is sketchy. 3) You could very well be correct. As with other information we have, it is not enough, and all we can put down is what is available. Hopefully, someone will find more in the future to either refute or confirm it. 4) Very good information - where on the internet did you find it? 5) The German Baptist Brethern Church (Dunkers) was the church of choice for many of the family. Several of them were active to the point of being ministers. Daniel F. Hartsough, his sons, George and Aaron, and George's son Daniel Max, I have listed with that occupation. Sorry for taking so long to respond, but please keep in touch. John Notify Administrator about this message?
