My father passed away recently and life is just now returning to normal. I will be home for a week or so.

Fifty years ago my mother told me, "Our ancestors came to America a long time ago. Three brothers came from Germany with Wm Penn." I noticed distant cousins have posted on Genforum similar info about three brothers. I assumed three came at one time, but that was an assumption. But why didn't oral history say 4 brothers. So Heronymus and Zachariah must have came first before 1725. Although a young Handrick may have come. Then Pieter and Anna Margritha came.

We need to keep in mind that although Engelbert Herzog of Rodenbach had 4 sons and 1 daughter on File #27-7-4 ca. 1690-1700 some older children may have left home and some younger children may have been born later. Especially since Henrich Wilhelm was born around 1715.

Because of the time frame, we know they didn't come with Wm. Penn. He died in 1718 and had been living in England when he died. But Tom Penn did conduct business in America and the family's Land Company may still have been recruiting Germans in the 1720's. That is why I continue to dig into the ownership of land in Bridgewater Twp. in NJ. We know the land at the junction of the North Branch of the Raritan was included in an Idian land title and we know who bought the land and some of the descendants. However I don't know who the East Jersey Proprietors sold the same land to. Wm. Penn did obtain land from the East Jersey Proprietors as well as being an West Jersey Proprietor. The East Jersey Proprietor organization is still in existence, but it will cost to get info from them.

On Gov. Hunter's list of rations for the Palatinate refugees living in New York Town or the camps during the first and second migrations there is a widow Hendrick Herzog listed ca. 1708-1712. Unofortunately names are listed alphabetically by the researcher and not by household. The originals may be by household. This does not mean that there was only one Hertzog as those that were healthy enough and had a little money went up the Hudson to work in the tar pitch facility for making naval stores. There are many Schmits listed.

Were the Kunz/Kuntz Germans or Swiss? Did the Kunz family migrate to Ireland via the London camps during the first and second migration and later migrate to America?

Would like some more info on the Reformed Church of Somerville where Pieter's children were baptized. Rev. Chambers 1875 gave detailed info on the churches in German Valley, but I couldn't identify any as being the Reformed Church of Somerville (Raritan). He did say that there were no hired Reformed ministers prior to Rev. Michael Schlatter in 1747. Prior to that Reformed ministers came from the mother church in Philadelphia on a rare and irregular basis. That doesn't jive with these Hertzog children being baptized every two years.

I've a lot of research to do in the next six months. Plus the Alfred Hartsoch reunion the last of June. Will post whenever I come across new info. Thank you for all the info on Pieter's brothers.
It will be helpful as I dig into the census and other legal records.
