I am looking for information on Mary Hartsock (Hartsook)who was born abt 1842 in VA. She married Samuel Russell. Samuel was born abt 1799 in VA. There is a big age difference in this couple. Samuel was married atleast once before. He is found on the 1860 Booneville, Owsley Co., KY Census married to a Susanah. At this time they have 3 children, Riley F., Mary M., and Stephen T.
By 1870 Samuel Russell is listed on the Owsley Co., KY Census as being married to Mary. They have four children listed, Stephen T.(son of Susanah), Samuel, William F. (later referred to as Frank), and Elvira E.
Elvira E. later goes by Ella, she is my great-grandmother.
By 1880 this family has moved to Missouri. They are listed on the Boone Twp., Wright Co., MO Census. Samuel is now 81 and Mary is only 37. Children listed for this couple : Franklin, Elvira, Sarah, Marinda, Jeremiah, and Samuel Fleener now 17 is listed as a step-son, this is the Samuel listed as a son ten years earlier on the 1870 census.
I believe most of this family setteled in Boone Co., AR after 1880. I am searching for anyone with info on these Russells or Hartsocks. It is believed that Mary was a Cherokee. I have a wonderful old photo of Mary. I would like to find out where Mary and Samuel are buried, I doubt if it is at the same place.
