I am researching my ancestor August HABERMAN, born October 1854 in Austria, died in Ellensburg, Kittitas Co., WA. He emigrated with his parents Frank and Annie (LINSNER?) HABERMAN (the family included a large number of children), around 1873 probably to Canada and then via the St Lawrence River to MN. August HABERMAN lived in MN for about two years, then spent about four years in KS where he was naturalized (1876) and married Anna LINDER/LUISNER/LIAVONER (1879). They ended up in WA, first in Seattle, King Co., before settling in Ellensburg to farm (1883). I believe the homestead that he built is now the Bar 14 Ranch. Either the original emigration or subsequent moves were undertaken with two other families from Austria or other Germanic countries – the ROLLINGER family (from Luxembourg) and the HEGER family. August and Anna’s oldest daughter Othelia Frances HABERMAN is my great-grandmother (she married George Washington SALLADAY). One point of confusion is the similarity between August’s wife’s name and his mother’s name. I have some information about August’s family, which I would be happy to share.
