Daisy Gurganus Daisy Merriwether Gurganus, a homemaker, died Sunday at her home. She was 85.
Gurganus was a native of Jay, Fla., and a resident of Eight Mile.
Survivors include five children, Linda Parker, Jamie Lawshee, Carolyn O'Gwynn, Norma Jean Fielding and Norman L. Gurganus Jr.; two sisters, Rosa Lee M. Switzer of Pass Christian, Miss., and Lillian M. Heildelberg of Pascagoula; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Three Notch Road. A graveside service is set to begin immediately following the visitation at Mobile Memorial Gardens. (The Mobile Register)
September 29, 2003 BAY MINETTE - John "Jay" Gurganus, a lifelong member of the Church of Christ, died Saturday at a family home.
Gurganus was a native of Oakman, Ala., and a resident of Bay Minette.
Gurganus was a retired president of Porter-Warner in Birmingham. He was a song leader for both Vestavia Hills and Pine Street Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Eloise Brooks Gurganus; one daughter, Jerilyn Gurganus Edgar; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Sunday at Norris Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. today at Bay Minette Cemetery (The Mobile Register)

ROBERTSDALE - Marion Gurganus Lewis, a native of Whistler and a resident of Pensacola for many years, died Thursday, May 13, 1999.
Ms. Lewis was a teacher's aide at McMillan School for 11 years. She was a member of the Over 55 Club, the Belles and Beaux, appeared in two Senior Follies and was the recipient of the Female ``Young At Heart'' Award. She was 82 years old.
She is survived by her daughter, Evelyn Bingaman of Salfordville, Pa.; her son, Henry Lewis of Pensacola; three sisters, Evelyn Ray of Pensacola, Annie Barter of Mobile and Henri Etta Burnett of Robertsdale; a stepson, James Lewis of Gautier, Miss.; and a stepdaughter, Mancella Smith of McSherrytown, Pa.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John's Episcopal Church in Warrington, Fla., with the Rev. Mark Wilson officiating.
The family suggests memorials be made to St. John's Episcopal Church or Hospice of Northwest Florida.
Arrangements are by Mack Funeral Home in Robertsdale.

Joseph R. Gurganus Sr., an Alabama Dry Docks retiree, died Monday at a local health care facility.
The Mobile native resided in Eight Mile.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy A. Gurganus of Eight Mile; children, Randy Jimmerson and Joseph R. Gurganus Jr., both of Mobile, Margie Lawshe of Eight Mile and Rebekah Shirley of Saraland; two sisters, Janice Laienau of Apex, N.C., and Alice Jones of Eight Mile; a brother, Jack Gurganus of Kushla; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland today from 11 a.m. until services begin at noon. Burial will be at Indian Springs Cemetery. (The Mobile Register)

JASPER Elza Lee Gurganus, who resided in Jasper, died Sunday at a local hospital. He was 81.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanett Gurganus of Jasper; a son, John Gurganus of Mobile; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Visitation is to be tonight from 6 to 9 at Collins-Burke Funeral Home. Services are set for 11 a.m. Tuesday at 6th Avenue Church of Christ, with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery (The Mobile Register)
