In Reply to: Graham of Claverhouse (1648-1689) aka Lord Dundee by Bill Metcalf of 12832

John Graham of Claverhouse (1643-1689), son of Robert Graham of Strathcarron (d.1660), grandson of William Graham of Kincardine (Of Montrose Clan - d. 1575)

John and his brother, David, became Burgesses of Dundee in 1660 and after returning from service under William of Orange in Holland, John received the title "Viscount Dundee"

John Graham of Claverhouse (Bonnie Dundee) was killed at the Pass of Killicrankie in 1689 during the Monmouth rebellion.

Most of what I've learned of Dundee was from the "Dictionary of National Biographies" although there is also some information in "Burkes Landed Gentry" I think these volumes are still available at your local library.

I hope this helps.

Rick
