The 18th annual BROCKS GAP HERITAGE DAY will be held at Fulks Run Elementary School, Fulks Run, on Saturday, April 19, 2007, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Part history day, part community reunion, Heritage Day celebrates our family roots in the Brocks Gap part of Rockingham County. "Fulks Run" is where John Fulk (before 1765-1820) & his wife Eve lived and reared their large family of 11 children.
Over 130 different photo displays of old photographs highlight families, everyday life and activities, churches, and schools of the area. Visitors can use Pat Ritchie’s personal library of family, local, and regional histories. New books will be available for sale.
Other authors and researchers will be on hand to gather information & sell their books.
Bring old family documents (like letters, Bibles, tax receipts, etc.) and photographs about Brocks Gap families to be copied for future books. An additional copy is given to James Madison University Library for preservation.
The Harrisonburg-Rockingham Historical Society will be there with books about the county for sale.
There is no admission charge. Donations will be accepted to buy tombstones for local family cemeteries. Eight monuments have been erected, and more are planned for other cemeteries as donations are received.
Last year 310 people came from 11 different states.
