I have found out some more about Zachariah Dews since my first posting that might interest you.
Zachariah Dews had two brothers: William b. 1794-6 and Edward b ~1800. William and Edward disappear from Gloucester Co. around 1837, but Edward did have 3 sons and a daughter in the 1830 census. Could this be the father of your Edward?
The 3 Dews brothers were the children of John and Frances Dews of Gloucester Co,Va. John died 1809-10 and his sons eventually inherited his land.
