I have a Zachariah Dews that was born in 1804 and lived in Gloucester Co., Va. He had at least one child, a daughter Mary Jane b. ~1829 with a first wife, then married Elizabeth Insley around 1840 and had five more children. He seems a little young to be your Edward's father. His parents were John and Francis Dews but that is all I know about them.
