Edward J. Deslauriers age 70 of Currie passed away suddenly on Friday, August 8, 2008 at the Murray County Hospital in Slayton.

Edward J. Deslauriers was born April 8, 1938 in Currie, MN to Gordon & Beatrice (Ruppert) Deslauriers. He graduated from IHM Catholic School in 1956. After his schooling, Ed entered the US Air Force where he served for four years. He then returned to Minnesota where he met Joan Tamminen. On February 19, 1972, Edward and Joan were united in marriage in Minneapolis. The couple lived in Minneapolis while Ed worked for the Railroad. In 1980, they moved to Texas where Ed worked as an auditor for the VA. Upon retiring in 1997, the couple returned to Currie where they have resided since. Edward belonged to the Currie American Legion, and was a member of IHM Catholic Church. He enjoyed woodworking, golfing, fishing and vegetable gardening. He will be remembered for going on his regularly scheduled car rides. Ed also loved spending time with his family and friends.

Edward is survived by his wife Joan of 36 years; his children from his previous marriage: Thomas, Mitchell, Laurie & Robert; several grandchildren; siblings: Bobbi (Dan) Vaughan of Minneapolis, Gloria (Don) Schmidt of Cincinnati, OH, Mary Ellen (Ivan) Krizan of Hastings, Lucille Deslauriers of Currie (special friend Bill Maher) & Joel Deslauriers of Currie; his dog Benji; and many other relatives and good friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, and sisters Connie and Pat.
