To researchers interested in VALENTINE DAME (1880 Marion TN to Polk/Dallas MO). I have in my possession a trunk which originally belonged to my grx2 grandfather, Pleasant C. Dame, son of Valentine and Nancy. This trunk has been passed down through my family via Pleasant's son, William Valentine Dame to my grandfather, Everett E. Dame and then to his son, William Loran Dame, deceased 3/12/2008. I found in the trunk several pieces of very old papers, including a Dallas County form regarding the estate of my grx3 grandfather, Valentine Dame. That form reads as follows: COUNTY OF DALLAS SS: The State of Missouri, to all persons to whom these presents shall come, greeting: KNOW YE, that whereas, Valentine Dame late of the county of Dallas died intestate, as it is said, having, at the time of his death, property in this State which may be lost, destroyed, or diminished in value, if speedy care be not taken of the same, to the end, therefore that said property may be collected, preserved and disposed of according to law, we do appoint P.C. Dame administrator of all and singular, the goods and chattels, rights and credits, which were of the said Valentine Dame at the time of his death, with full power and authority to secure and dispose of said property according to law, and collect all moneys due said deceased, and in general to do and perform all other acts and things which are or hereafter may be required of him by law. IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I, Jesse L. Paine, Clerk of County Court in and for the county of Dallas aforesaid, have hereunto signed my name and affixed the seal of said court, at office, this 21st day of Nov. A.D. 1853. J.L. Paine, clk. I certtify that the within letters are duly recorded in my office this 21st Nov. 1853. J.L. Paine, clk Notify Administrator about this message?
