Mr. Rodgers,

What you mention sounds somewhat familiar but what little information I have is a little different.
I just recently started looking at the Coy family of Texas because of possible family ties (thru marriages), but is still quite incomplete. I do show that Antonio de los Santos Coy (born in 1799 in Rio Grande city, TX)was at one time a servant, interpreter, scout and confident of Texas Ranger Jack Hays and presumably took part in some of the Ranger activities. He was married, however to Guadalupe Calderon, who was reputed to be a Lipan Apache woman. Whether he later married again I do not know. He traveled extensively herding cattle for Hays and others to California, etc.
His son Juan Jose Coy was a notorious outlaw and sometimes lawman in the San Antonio, Floresville, Karnes City area of Texas as well as a confederate soldier.

I show an Antonio Coy, born abt 1831 married to a Candelaria Casias born abt 1835 living in San Antonio, Texas in 1880. They had a daughter named Maria Coy born abt 1860. Since I just started I have not yet made connections to all of Coys of that time and don't know whether this Antonio Coy was related to the older Antonio Coy.

I also show a Antonio Paulino Coy , born abt 1854, son of Trinidad Coy and Maria del Refugio Vara, who was a Sheriff and did some work doe the rangers around the late 1800's.

If or when I run across the burial information I will try to post it. I just recently obtained a small book entitled, The Life and Death of Juan Coy, by Charles Law Olmsted and Edward Coy Ybarra, which has been helpful.

Good luck,

Alex Martinez
