My husband is a descendant of John Clement who came to New Zealand in 1849 from Eddington near Hungerford, Berkshire, England. He married Sarah Augusta HOPTON and they went on to have 14 children. These children were all born in the Wellington/Hutt Valley area. Seven of the sons were in Taranaki at some stage of their lives.
There are other Clement families in New Zealand including
Clement, William Henry: Farmer of Mayfield near Ashburton, South Island. He was born in Somertshire, Eng and came to Lyttelton with his parents in 1857. His father was Shedrick Clement. William was married in Christchurch and had three sons and four daughters.
Clement, Jacob William: was born in Chatham, Kent, Eng in 1889 and arrived in New Zealand in 1909. He married in 1912 and had 1 son and 1 daughter.
Clement, Henry Herbert: brother of Jacob William. Settled in Hawera, South Taranaki.
Clement, Samuel Perry: had a Venetian Blind business in Wellington. His son William Charles Clement (who was born in Sydney, Aus in 1852) married in 1874 and had three sons -Charles James 1879, Albert Philip 1884 and William Albert Joseph.
Also a large pocket of Clement's living in lower South Island. I am not sure of there ancestry.
