Charles or Carl Rostosky Mt Vernon NY

I was hoping someone could get me Civil War info on Charles/Carl Rostosky(I've seen his name both ways) b. abt 1820 in Prussia and immigrated to NY around 1850. Married Elizabeth Atwell 1854 in Mt Vernon NY and they had 7 children William b 1854; Julia b 1855; Annie b 1857; Henry b 1859; Isabella 1869; Robert G. b 1871 and Sarah Jane b 1875. Note the lack of children during the war years. He died 11/11/1892 in Mt. Vernon NY and is buried at St. Paul's Cemetery in Mt. Vernon. On his burial record it mentions him being a Civil war veteran. I'm assuming he was part of a NY volunteer group but that is pure speculation. Any help or guidance on this is greatly appreciated. Jim
