No , it all has to do with copyright.When i donated my photos from Vietnam (that i found at a flea market for $3.00) i has to stipulate that i held no copyright on them and was donating them outright to them. A good amount of the photos in their collection can only be used for publication after they contact the original person who donated them,though they can be viewed at the facility,just not copied.

Find someone who has a website concerning the regiment they were in,ask them if they want the digital images for their site,as long as it is noted that they are courtesy of you.

(note: on the images you may want to write the name of the soldier and that they are from your collection (very small letters of course)
