I am trying to figure out who this John Woodson was: According to the interview given by his son, Andrew Davidson Woodson, to Goodspeed, he served in the Rev. War, however, he would have been very young, but this is not impossible, as I have records of other family members volunteering as young as 14 years of age. I sent for the Rev application of John Woodson and received two: a John Woodson, born Feb 29, 1763, in Goochland County, Va, who received his pension and the other John Stephen Woodson, who said he was born in 1756 in Goochland County, Virginia, whose penison was denied because he could not funish any proof of alledged service. John Woodson, born in 1763, applied in Hanover County, Virginia in 1832. John S. Woodson, born in 1756, applied in Powaton County, Virginia, also in 1832. The John Woodson I am looking for lived, after 1800, in and around Russell County, Virginia, as his children were either born in Russell County or Lee County, Virginia. However, I find few Woodson's on the tax lists of either county, I find Woods, but not Woodson, which makes me wonder if their names might have been shortened on the lists. There is also a possibility that my John was married twice, as I have found a marriage of John Woodson to Betsy Davidson in the Washington County, Tennessee marriage records, however, the date is after the birth of William M. Woodson, born in 1801. His other children: John F. Woodson, born 1803 Russell County, Virginia Andrew Davidson Woodson, born 1807 Russell County, Virginia Anna Woodson, born 1808 Russell County, Virginia Jane Woodson, born 1809 Russell County, Virginia James Woodson, born 1812 Russell County, Virginia Henry D. Woodson, born 1814 in Virginia George W. Woodson 1816 in Lee County, Virginia Joseph Lilburn Woodson born 1818 in Virginia Elizabeth Woodson, born 1821 in Lee County, Virginia Robert C.
