My great grandfather Henry R Walker was born in Jamaica or Antigo?? West Indies abt 1837 to a father John Walker who was an officer at the military post. Henry appears to be be an orphan showing up in Markham,Ontario, Canada in the 1851 census as a teenager 12 - 14 years old with no parents being listed. A possible sibling is Robert Walker in the same census in the same area- also without parents and born in 1839 in the West Indies. I would like to find further birth records to determine Henry's father John Walker was born in Ireland as all current documents show the ethnic origin to be Irish. Can anyone help with information? No records of the mother other than Henry's marriage cert showing father -John and mother- Joan unknown? I appreciate others input with Walkers of the West Indies and military records, death records of John or marriage records of John to an unknown wife.
