I am just starting out on this endeavor, but have received information (lineage guesses) from various family members. Supposedly, my Stoy lineage goes back to Daniel Stoy and Stoystown, PA. There are big gaps in my info and two confusing sets of docs I have right now. 1) A typed note that I found in an old German bible in my grandparents' attic (she wouldn't let me keep the bible to get some handwritten notes in it translated from german to English...). The typed note was in English. I'll get it digital sometime soon. Basics of the note: The owner of this bible or holder said that they decended from Conrad (Stey) Stoy of Frankford on the Main in Germany. b 1819. Came to America at 17 yrs. m Caroline Weyand. Conrads bro settled in Ohio and "disowned" Conrad when he found out that Conrad became a Protestant. List of Stey/Stoy siblings: Elizabeth, Mary, Katherine, Caroline, Conrad, William, Henry, Phlipe, Dorsey, John, Jacob, and two other sons (names unknown). Conrad and Caroline had 2 kids: Elizabeth (m John Hensel) and Conrad (m Anne Weller). Conrad remarried... to Mary Bowser. Their kids: Cyrus, John, Caroline, Sara, Ellen, Austin James. Two kids died: Belinda and Franklin. 1/2 German, 1/4 English, 1/4 Swiss. The second set of docs well, they are all over the place...many lack dates, but lots of names are the same over time. But it tries to tie Daniel Stoy (founder of Stoystown) to Cyrus W. Stoy (b 1845) through a Conrad Stoy (no dates) and down to John H. Stoy (m Mary Moore) to son Wilson Stoy (my great grandpa b.1878) Any help would be great. |
