Mathew McAfee, Rev War veteran of Westmoreland Co Pa (and part time Somerset/Bedford), born 1760, parents/siblings unknown, received 1787, 200 acres of Donation Land in Westmoreland (but up in present Wilmington Twp, Mercer Co). He never went there.
He also received, 1787, 100 acres of land in Bedford Co (Somerset). He never lived on it.
On 10 August 1787, Mathew McAfee gave his "Power of Atty" to "his trusty and loving friend, Daniel Stoy" to sell the 200 acres of Donation Land (up in present Mercer Co). He also gave Daniel Stoy to act in his behalf on anything else, including the 100 acres in Somerset.
At the time Mathew McAfee lists himself as "of Quemahoning Twp, Bedford County, and of course, Daniel Stoy is recorded of the same place.
Understand, McAfee was in Westmoreland Co 1786, then in this area of (Somerset)Bedford in 1787,1788, and early 1789, but is back in Westmoreland middle 1789.
Mathew McAfee is even listed by DANIEL STOY on 6 Feb 1789 Quemahoning Twp. Bedford Co Malitia Duty.
Although I never could find what Daniel Stoy did with Mathew McAfee's 100 acres in Somerset Co, Daniel Stoy did sell finally the 200 acres of Donation Land (Mercer Co) on 6 April 1803, some 16 years after placed to sell. I do not know if he caught up with Mathew McAfee at that time, as he was gone west?
I would like to know about this Daniel Stoy, and his connection, if any, to Mathew McAfee?
The land in Somerset/Quemahoning that McAfee owned was adjoined by John Higgins and Peter Pence, 1780's, but I could never locate.
Thank you. Regards. Dick
