I'm trying to trace the ancestry of David Stille. This is what I have so far. This is what I believe the line is at this point.

Descendants of David Stille
Generation No. 1
1. DAVID1 STILLE He married ANNA (CONOVER?). She was born Abt. 1793, and died September 5, 1848.

Notes for DAVID STILL:
Based on date of marriage, probably not the parents of John David Still, but possibly grandparents.

December 9, 1763 David Stille and Ann Dobson married

We have a Walter Still born 28 Nov. 1798 in NYS. Supposedly he was the son
of Francis Still, though I don't have documentation. He also supposedly
lived near Ephratah, which would be the right area to be related to your
Stills. Could even have been an older brother.
He married Charity (Geesje) Groesbeck of Tiosiook (Wash/Renss. Co.) in
1824. They lived in Montgomery County, NY until about 1830, when they moved
to Searsburg, Bennington County, Vermont to live near Charity's brother
Nicholas. In the 1840's they moved to Franklin County, Ohio, and later to
Birmingham, Iowa, where they are buried.
Incidentally, Fulton County didn't exist until 1838, so your earlier
Stills would have been residents of Montgomery County, not Fulton County.
Fulton was split off from Montgomery.

The name was originally Still(e) and they came to the USA with the French Hugenots. There was a sizable family and they scattered. John David Still was an expert contractor and builder and cabinet maker and built and designed many of the beautiful homes along the Mohawk River. Some of the Stille brothers came over on the same boat with LaFayette. One died on the way and was buried at sea.

John Stille was a prisoner delivered to Colonel Schuyler in Montreal, September 1, 1758. "Book of Names" by Macwethy.

The following Still's show up in the 1790 PA census: Benjamin, Charles, Christian, David, Elizabeth, John, Samuel, Thomas, and William Still. Which one was the father of Isaac Still b. 1774; d. 1854 in Halifax, Dauphin County, PA?
Isaac Still (1774-1854) was the son of David Still and a German lady (have no name for German lady only that the lady fell overboard and David jumped in and saved her, later they married) David had two brothers (John and William) they all came over on the same ship and this is where I am in my research.

I am a decendant of David Still, 1748-1753.he had two sons, Isaac born 1774,and William born after 1774.I do not know the German woman’s name but it is believed that she was 13 to 16 years of age when she fell off the boat in 1773.
