Mary E. Pennel 1926 - 2009 McLouth Funeral services for Mary E. Pennel, 82, McLouth, will be 11 a.m. Thursday at McLouth First Baptist Church. Graveside committal services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Maple Hill Cemetery in Kansas City, Kan. Mrs. Pennel died Monday, May 4, 2009, at F.W. Huston Memorial Hospital in Winchester. She was born Aug. 22, 1926, in Kansas City, Kan., the daughter of Frank Cyril and Flora Ellen Doyle Mercier. She had lived in McLouth since 1963. She was a 1944 graduate of Turner High School. She was a homemaker and a member of the McLouth First Baptist Church. She married Donald Eugene Pennel on June 16, 1949, in Kansas City, Kan. He preceded her in death on Dec. 20, 2005. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Chase Coffin; one brother, James Mercier; and a sister, Margaret Mitchell. Survivors include a son, James L. “Jim” Pennel, McLouth; two daughters, Marsha K. Funk and husband Bob, McLouth, and Terri Elaine Coffin and husband Dale, Oskaloosa; her former daughter-in-law, Cindy Pennel, Oskaloosa; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, prior to services, at the church.
