There are records for various Thomas Paces and Solomon Paces in NC. I don't know of a Thomas with son Solomon, but the NC Pace records have not been clearly elucidated despite strenuous efforts by many searchers.

I can think of only two NC Thomas Paces whose date and place of death are not known. One was a son of John Pace (died intestate Northampton County NC 1760, administration granted son Thomas Pace). This Thomas Pace had a wife Sarah and moved to Halifax County NC by 1768. The date and place of his death are not known. But since he was of full age by 1760, his children were probably born well before 1781.

The other Thomas who appears in the NC records and then vanishes to places unknown, is Thomas Pace who sold land in Nash County in 1778. His wife Kizer/Kezia relinquished dower. He only appears in that one record.

A DNA test might help to clarify which of the various NC Pace lines Solomon Pace of Quebec might have been related to (if any). Only possible if a male-line descendant could be traced, of course.

You could try posting your question to the Pace mailing list (http://lists.rootsweb.ancestry.com/index/surname/p/pace.html). Someone there might be able to help.
