Trisha: Etta Estella Ward was my grandmother, b. 2/10/1878 in Maysville, AR, d. 12/13/1953 in Portland, OR, where I have lived all my life. She married John Milton Pace, Sr, b. 1/16/1870 Maysville, AR, d. 6/23/1949 Portland, OR. Estella, as everyone called her, was one-eighth Cherokee and I have traced her Cherokee ancestry back several generations. I have traced John Pace Sr's ancestry back several generations to William Pace Sr, b. 1747 in Halifax Co, NC, d 1845 in Montgomery Co, TN, m. Sicely Walker abt 1772 NC. They had 13 children. Although I could not determine, with certainty, who William's parents were, I along with a couple of other descendants have had DNA tests done, the results of which establish with better than 90% certainty that he was a direct descendant of Richard Pace of Jamestown, ca 1625. Who was Vergil Lee Pace and how are you related to these Paces? I can send you the detailed ancestry of my Paces by direct email if you are interested. Gordon W. Pace |
