Hi Mercy: It's very possible we could be 3rd or 4th cousins because a relative in California told me that my grandfather Antonio Muro born in 1888 had 1st cousins in Zacatecus, Zacatecus. My grandpa's 1st cousin was Juanita Muro who was married to Felise Ortega. Her children were Esther, Antonio, Magdaleno Muro. Esther had a son named Tony. Tony's last name is Tony Gusman and he lives in CA., So because of Tony we now know that we did have relation from Zacatecus, Zacatecus. Do any of those names sound familiar to you. We have researched our Muro line to 1760 and now we are finding our ancestors in Villanueva and probably will find more in Jerez and Zacatecus, Zacatecus. I've also seen the name Bautista in several of our records. My grandfather was baptized in Colotlan, Jaliso which is a bordering town to Zacatecas and probably 20-40 miles form Villanueva. Zacatecas, Zacatecas is also near Villaneuva. Do you live in California? My grandfather and two brothers went to California during the Mexican Revolution probably around 1916, they actually came to the US in 1908 but were in Texas for awhile. I have alot of cousins in CA., mostly 2nd and 3rd. I will check my notes in a few days and see what other info I may have that will help. Thanks for your reply and I'll let you know what I find out. By any chance do you communicate with any Muro's still in Villanueva or that area? Have you ever heard of Sous de Los Marques? Sous is the hacienda where my grandfather and his family lived. Carol |
