Does anyone know the exact location of the Nansemond County, VA plantation of Andrew Meade 'the Immigrant'? According to the story, Andrew's son David won the hand of Susanna Everard, dau of NC Gov Everard, while the Evarards visited there, waiting to set sail home to England. The story places The Meade Plantation at the head of navigation of the Nansemond River. Is this plantation or its ruins extant? Can anyone supply the lat. and long. location so that I can find it on Google Earth? My real purpose is to approximate the location of a subsequent grant, presumed to be in the same area, to 'Andrew Meade, Gent.' on 22 Feb 1727 for 136a on NS Mill Creek of Southern Br. of Nansemond R., it being a surplus of land found in the patent of John Corbell for 285a on 5 Oct 1695. John Corbell's grant is described as being on SW side of Evans Creek and NW side of Mills Creek, a branch of the Southern Branch of the Nansemond River. Evans Creek is the waterway that interests me. Another grant 7 August 1761 to Josiah Gwin, also on Evans Creek, is adjacent to John Gwin and Susanna Mead's Corner. This last I make to be Susanna Everard Meade, wife of David Meade. Thanks, Rebecca
