Hi Stephanie, My gmother was Edith Litz b 20.2.1896 in Brant NY (Erie County). On her Registry of Birth & in the census her name was spelled Litz, on her Certificate of Marriage it was spelled Lietz. I have cousins that now spell it Leitz, no idea where these different spellings derived from. Her father was John b Germany & her mother Mary b Germany. I was shocked when I recently recieved a copy of her Birth Certificate from my aunt & her real name was Margaret Ida Anna, she was always known as Edith.. so keep digging! Barb
