Greetings, I descend from the Litz/Gose line of Burkes Garden VA in a few places, and often wondered about the marriage of Joshua Romans to Julia Ann Litz in 1808 (she was age 16, so it was likely her first marriage). Julia Ann was a daughter of Leonard Litz and Julia Ann Gose. 1) Does anyone have a source for this information? I found it on a family tree site on Genealogy.com, but don't have a primary source reference for this marriage. http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/n/a/l/Debra-Youngberg-Nall/GENE5-0002.html#CHILD2 There is also some evidence that Julia Ann Litz Romans was later married to a Jacob Peck, and they had at least two sons: James and Henry Peck who are found living with Litz and Gose families in the 1850 TazVa census. I have Julia Ann dying 11/22/1845. 2) Has anyone heard of this connection? 3) Does anyone have a date of death for Joshua Romans? There are around 10 mentions of Romans/Romins/Romines/Remines in The Annals of Tazwell Va (by Harman, 1922). The John Romans who married Polly Gose in 1836 is said to have moved to Missouri around 1860 just before the war. Thanks for any information or opinions. Regards, Joe |
