Looking for information on my Brooks family line. William Brooks was born 12-25-1843 in Pa. He died on 02-06-1914, in Sandy Creek, Mercer Co., Pa. He married Samantha Bailey on 05-11-1867. (He was a Captain in the Civil War) Their children: Bertie Brooks b.02-11-1868/02-12-1868 Hettie Brooks b.05-13-1869 Minnie Brooks b.06-04-1871(my line-married Fredrick Peterson) Florence Brooks b.11-09-1882 Edwin Brooks b. 08-24-1873 Mary Brooks b.03-11-1876/06-11-1886 Blanche Brooks b.03-07-1878 Clara Brooks b.07-27-1880 William Brooks b.07-02-1885 Stephen Brooks b.10-13-1887 Vernon Brooks b.05-01-1892 William's parents were: Samuel Brooks, Jr and Rebecca Caldwell. Samuel Brooks, Jr. b. abt 1780 and died 01-1863. He was a veteran of the War of 1812. On the 1850 US Census, it states his birthplace as New York...However, on the 1900 US Census, under William, states his father's birthplace as Connecticut. I was always told his birthplace was Vermont! Any info Samuel Brooks, Jr or William Brooks would be greatly appreciated!
