I was in Paris recently and went for a couple of days to Bibliotheque Genealogique et D'histoire Sociale, Centre de Recherches 3 rue de Turbigo, 75001 PARIS Tel: 01 42 33 58 21 I rummaged around in their archives for a while, hunting for my Brasseurs of Bouches du Rhone. I found that there is a rather large Brasseur family, or has been, in the border region of France, Belgium, and The Netherlands, and spilling over into those countries. There were also biographies of famous Brasseurs, such as Pierre Brasseur, the movie actor; the Brasseur (Francois, if I remember right) who was an archeologist in Yucatan; etc. Some of you may be interested in taking a look. Biblioteque Genealogique has a web site: http://bibgen.org/rech2-usa.html will get you to a place where you have to arrange to pay them a small fee for use of the archives on line. Actually, what you get is their card catalog, but you can tell from that if you are really interested. They also have an on-line copying service, whereby they can make Xerox copies and send to you. Hope this helps someone, Charles Brashear, 12th generation descendant of Robert Brasseur, The Huguenot Immigrant to VA c1635 |
