RE: Austin Soldiers in the First Alabama Cavalry of the United States 1862-1865

Helen: Some of you know that I am working on bio sketches of the 5 soldiers of North AL and No. MS who enlisted in the First AL Cav. Union.

Two soldiers, Bryant Austin b 1843 Franklin Co, AL and John R. (Richard) Austin,
appear to be brothers. They are children of John O. Austin b abt 1821 Lincoln Co, TN (probably) who d abt 1888 in Pontotoc Co, MS and wife, Elizabeth Rodgers b abt 1820 SC, d 1861-1867 on the way to MS from AL (this according to Ancestry.com)
I have written to an Amanda Mask who posted some info on the ancestry.com about this line.

But, I would like to hear from others if you have more information about the brothers.
I am especiall interested in stories about their war experiences or what life was like
for them after the war.
