Trying to find a marriage record of Austin and Fookes or Fowlks in NC or VA. I am looking for the family of John Fookes in Craven County, NC. He left a will dated 1809 leaving his entire estate to his half brother, John Austin. He is possibly the son of John and Mary Fooks who left a will in Craven County, 1776. His decendants are found in Anson, Rowan, Montgomery, Burke and Lincoln Counties, NC. Does anyone have an idea about this relationship? We strongly suspect these are the Fookes from Accomac VA and Maryland. John Fookes being of sound and perfect mind and memory and now going on a journey and expect to be absent from this place and expecting it to be a long time......leave and make Executor my half brother John Austin....dated 8 Jan. 1809. Witnesses: Henry Black, Siddy or Liddy Whitford and James C. Fookes Will probated March of 1812
