Alvarez, 78, of Coachella, CA, passed away January 10, 2008. She was born April 4, 1929 to Agustin Marrujo and Vicenta Noriega in Sonora, Mexico. She was a caregiver. She is survived by her daughters, Lupita Garcia of Indio, Carmen Marie Pruitt of Indio, Fatima Ohly of Coachella and Sophie Sanchez of Indio; her sons, Francisco Javier Ruiz of Mexico, Roberto Alvarez of Coachella, Antonio Alvarez of Indio, Jesse Alvarez of Coachella and Bernardo Alvarez of Indio; her sisters, Lydia Rivera and Otelia Maruffo and one brother, Francisco Maruffo, all of Mexico; 30 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt who will be missed dearly by all who knew her. She will remain in our hearts forever. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2008 with a Rosary at 6:30 p.m. at FitzHenry Funeral Home Indio. Funeral Mass will be 8:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at Our Lady of Soledad Catholic Church in Coachella. Published in The Desert Sun on 1/12/2008.
