Martha Josephine Caudill Wade, 92, passed away Monday,
April 7, 2008, at Lonesome Pine Hospital in Big Stone
Gap, VA.
She was born in McRoberts, KY, and lived most of her life
in Big Stone Gap. She had worked in the past for Orbit
Clothing, Bonnie's Store and the Big Stone Gap Canning
Factory. Mrs. Wade volunteered with the Lonesome Pine
Hospital Auxiliary for 13 years. She was a member of the
Powell Valley Presbyterian Church in Big Stone Gap.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn J. Wade;
one som, Jimmie R. Wade; her parents, William W. Caudill
and Millie Maureen (Smith) Caudill; six brothers, Frank,
Charles, Bill, Jr., Darius, Bobby and Luther Caudill.
Mrs. Wade is survived by one son, Curtis Wade of Big Stone
Gap; one daughter, Elizabeth Ann Sturgill of Norton, VA;
14 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 14 great-grand-
children and eight reat-great-grandchildren; one brother,
Alfred Caudill of Lynchburg, VA; and several nieces and
nephews.
The family received friends Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at
Holding Funeral Home in Big Stone Gap, VA.
Funeral services were April 9, 2008, in the funeral home
chapel with the Pastor Jimmy Mitchell officiating.
Committal services were held Thursday, April 10, 2008, at
the Wade Family Cemetery, just off the Pennington Gap Hwy,
in Big Stone Gap, VA.
