My 3rd g. grandfather was James Huntington Cane, born probably around 1800. His brother was John R. Cane. James H. married 1st Rebecca Bennett of New Hampshire, and 2nd in Louisiana, Mary Bennett (Rebecca's niece) also of New Hampshire.
James Cane was a huge part of the founding of both Shreveport and Bossier City. Many researchers have looked for his ancestry, with no luck. I thought I'd try this web site.
James died in Shreveport/Bossier in 1845, and his brother, John R Cane died in Louisiana, possibly Shreveport but not necessarily, in about 1848.
Can anyone help me?
