I am certain this is the same Florence Caines. I am not sure why I thought he father's name was John, that may have been one of her brothers.
I'm very excited to get your message. I would be pleased to share information with you. Right now, I can tell you my Florence, probably your Florence too, died in 1994 at the age of 95 peacefully in her sleep in Maine. As I understand it, she had been at a convention all day (she was a Jehovah's Witness), and came home that evening, went to bed and did not revive in the morning.
Since she became a Jehovah's Witness--in the 30's I think--she pretty much renounced her "old" life and I don't think she had much contact with her family. I believe she lost contact with all of her brothers.
She very rarely spoke to me at all about her life in Newfoundland, but everyonce in a while she would let a few things slip.
