You are very lucky that your father is still alive, because even if he does not have a lot of information, his DNA does. I cannot say yet whether he might be connected to my Cains who may have arrived in Kentucky by way of Virginia. No matter, a comparison of your father's DNA with mine would soon sort that out.

Along with other Kentucky Cains, I tested through the Cain DNA project at www.familytreedna.com/public/Cain-Caine.

If your father does not match my group, he is very likely to match one of the other Cain genetic groups. That may well give him Y-DNA matches in the USA, was as well as indicate where his family originally were in Europe. Most Cains were from Ireland, some from the Isle of Man, and we seem to be finding some from Scotland just now.
