Hi! Sorry to be so late answering.... Yes, my O'Cains were said to have dropped the O' at some time after the death of William O'Cain born about 1765 in the Martin County area of North Carolina, and he died about 1821 in South Carolina... I don't know the reason the sons changed their name to Cain....I do not know the maiden name of William O'Cain's wife but MAYBE it was O'Brian...not sure...This was passed down through the Cain family. Anyway her fist name was said to have been Joyce Ann..born about 1764 in Martin County, NC and died 1835 in Marion County, SC. These O'Cains/Cains were said to have come from Antrium, Ireland to Philadelphia and migrated down the Eastern Coast to Virgina, North Carolina, and some on to South Carolina. Would be willing to share more if needed... Susan Cain Gibbs Martin Notify Administrator about this message?
